Job description

  1. Deep Engineering Mindset (Not Just QA) A strong SDET: Understands code architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices. Reads production code and identifies testability gaps. Contributes code to shared libraries, frameworks, CI/CD pipelines. Differentiator: Writes testable code and influences overall product design.
  2. Test Architecture & Framework Ownership An SDET should be able to: Design end‑to‑end automation frameworks (UI, API, performance, pipeline). Implement scalable abstractions (Page Objects, fixtures, DSLs). Optimize test execution time and reliability. Differentiator: Builds the testing ecosystem, not just test scripts.
  3. Full‑Stack Quality Skills Modern SDETs cover multiple testing layers: API, UI, contract, data validation Performance, load, Accessibility, security basics Observability (logs, metrics, tracing) Differentiator: Ensures quality at every layer of the stack.
  4. Strong CI/CD Integration Great SDETs: Integrate tests seamlessly into pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps). Block bad releases automatically via quality gates. Build dashboards (Playwright ). Differentiator: Transforms quality into a pipeline-driven discipline.
  5. Root‑Cause Analysis + Debugging Top SDETs know how to debug: Environment issues Failing pipelines Race conditions Data inconsistencies Deployment misconfigurations Differentiator: Fixes what broke — not just reports it.
  6. Product + Customer Empathy Great SDETs understand: Core user scenarios Edge cases Real‑world usage patterns Business impact of defects Differentiator: Connects quality to customer experience and business KPIs.
  7. Data‑Driven Quality Improvements SDETs stand out by: Using quality telemetry to spot regressions Building dashboards around flaky tests, defect trends, performance degradation Automating defect classification Differentiator: Improves quality through insights, not guesswork.
  8. Innovation & Tooling Ownership Great SDETs often introduce: Self‑healing locators Automatic environment provisioning AI‑assisted test generation Internal testing utilities Differentiator: Drives continuous innovation in the testing org.
  9. Collaboration With Devs + Infra SDETs partner deeply across teams: Work with developers during design phase Collaborate with DevOps on environments Pair with product and UX early in planning Differentiator: Embedded in the development lifecycle end‑to‑end.
  10. High Bar for Code Quality & Best Practices SDETs lead by example: Write clean, maintainable, scalable test code Integrate static analysis Enforce coding guidelines in the automation codebase Differentiator: Owns code quality in test automation like an engineer.
